Camus have been operating independently since 1863 upholding the same uncompromising philosophy of a family five generations strong. Camus are craftsmen of an extraordinary passion, engaged in a relentless quest for the utmost refinement. They embrace the strengths of traditions, while remaining at the forefront of science to always reach new levels of intensity in the aromas of our Cognacs.
The patented ‘INTENSITY’ distillation method allows them to select the most aromatic fractions of liquid out of the second distillation, rich in esters and responsible for intense fruity aromas.
Since 2003 CAMUS has pioneered production in the insular terroir of Ile de Ré, because of its rather distinctive oceanic climate and the striking mineral notes of the Cognac produced here. Dive into a collection of Single Origin Cognacs with a maritime character.
Produced in limited quantities, Ile de Ré Cliffside Cellar enjoys a double aging on the island. Its first aging takes place in barrels with light tannins and the second is within the Fort de La Prée, a historic monument constructed in 1626 overlooking the ocean.
Bathed in the spray of the Atlantic Ocean whose waves reach within meters of the cellar, the aging location of Ile de Ré Cliffside Cellar gives the Cognac an exceptionally round and decidedly oceanic character.
The maritime quality pairs beautifully with notes of orange, grape, salted caramel and wood spice.
